Christmas Art

Now that we’ve completed another Christmas season, I’m wondering what your favorite Christmas art was in 2010? Was it a song, video, poem, visual artwork or something else? Post a link.

I thought I would include a poem I wrote this year. Not necessarily my favorite, but certainly my most recent!

Without Christmas

By
Phil Mershon

I can’t imagine spending Christmas without you,
But then I can’t imagine you without Christmas.

Without Christmas our lives would be full of pain,
Full of envy, anger and the futile pursuit of gain.

Without Christmas our pain would consume us,
Our disappointments would haunt us.

Without Christmas there would be little purpose,
Few reasons for hope, faith or love.

Without Christmas I’m sure we’d laugh,
But it would always be at someone else’s expense.

Without Christmas there would be no joy,
No peace on earth and no angelic voices.

Without Christmas there would be no Easter and
Without Easter we couldn’t know God.

So, I can’t imagine spending Christmas without you,
But I’m so glad there is Christmas because now I can
SEE The Real YOU!

I really like Phil Wickham’s new arrangement of O Come Emmanuel that’s on his latest Christmas CD. I made an audio track to play to so we could have the same feel. One of the few Christmas songs that really seems to capture the mood of what really happened- Israel desperately waiting for their promised king to ransom them. I can’t seem to find the link anymore though… his Christmas CD was available through his site only, and it seems to be gone now. Definitely track it down and take a listen!

Thanks, Jason. Very cool! I just found it on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoshUj_lL50

By the way, I’m not a huge NSYNC fan, but I really like their a cappella arrangement of O Holy Night. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33iNM_WGxHU&feature=fvst
